eBooks are an excellent choice for learners on the go. They are convenient, less expensive, and take up less space. In addition, many eBooks have interactive features and can be read offline. These features make the learning process more interactive and engaging. And they’re great for growing students.

More convenient

eBooks are an excellent option for learning on the go. They allow students to learn offline, and the interactive features will enable them to stay engaged and learn more. Moreover, eBooks are more affordable than whole releases. Students can even buy a single book or a series using a promo code and have it on hand for as long as they like. The content of an eBook can be downloaded and used offline as long as you have a mobile device. Additionally, you can print out eBooks if you are out of access to the internet.

Less expensive

eBooks are significantly less expensive than printed books, making them more affordable for students to learn on the go. Traditional textbooks are often more than $1200 a year for a college student, and the cost of eBooks can save students a considerable amount of money. They also don’t require printing, making them environmentally friendly. The average student will save around $700 a year when they switch to eBooks. Another advantage of eBooks is the portability of the content. Unlike a physical textbook, an e-book can be read anywhere, even on the road. In addition, students can read them with a laptop or handheld device, which makes them an excellent option for students who are always on the go. You may carry over fifty eBooks on your handheld device, some for education and some for pleasure.

Less space

eBooks are easier to carry around and take up less space than physical books. They do not need a specific storage area and can be carried anywhere a student needs to study. In addition, an eBook reader can store hundreds of thousands of titles and be safe from theft. This means students can bring them from home to school or institute to institute without worrying about carrying extra weight.

Less time

eBooks offer several advantages over print books, including portability and the ability to read them on various devices. In addition, they are easily searchable and include more multimedia, such as audio, video, and infographics. They can also be customized with a search feature, which makes it easier for students to find what they are looking for.

More interactive

eBooks are becoming increasingly interactive for learning on the go, combining multimedia content with interactive activities. For example, pictures, videos, and audio text can help students learn to pronounce new words or look up synonyms and definitions. In addition, interactive features such as BookWidgets can create an in-text feedback loop for teachers. These features let teachers see how well their students understand the text and make changes as necessary.

Interactivity can be limited if there is no text support, but some eBooks offer extra features that can make learning on the go more enjoyable. For example, some are game-like, with in-text interactions that allow readers to color illustrations or highlight words. Others have additional interactive features, like a slideshow feature with music.

More flexibility

eBooks are an excellent option for those who need to continue their education while on the go. They can be read on any device and can be customized to meet a variety of learning needs. Some eBooks include multimedia content, such as video, audio, and infographics. This broadens the range of learning options and encourages staff engagement. Ebook readers come in a variety of price ranges. Whether you want a device for a single student or a whole school, you can find a cost-effective option.

Social media is a much more powerful tool than a lot of people give it credit for. Yes, it isn’t very serious in many ways, but it is also the main method that many us communicate with one another. Appearing in the right way on social media can feel just as important as appearing in the right way at a social event, except that the pressure is there all the time!

This pressure is even more pronounced for teenagers, and it can lead to an increased risk of anxiety and depression if their social media usage is left unchecked.

What is social media anxiety?

Social media anxiety is feelings of anxiety that are triggered or exacerbated by social media use.

It’s common for teenagers to experience social anxiety to a greater or lesser extent. They might worry about making friends, how they are appearing to other people or that if they present themselves as they really are that they will be rejected. If social media use is unmoderated, these anxieties can be a constant presence and can start to develop into a chronic issue.

Some signs that social media use has become an issue are:

  • Spending more time on social media than with people in real life.
  • Making unfavorable comparisons of yourself against people on social media.
  • Taking risks to get a favorable reaction online, for example, playing pranks, bullying others, or posting embarrassing material.

You may also notice that your teen seems to have become shy and withdrawn, that they are displaying nervous behaviors like nail-biting, or that they seem depressed.

When to get help

If your child’s anxiety has become quite severe, then you may need to get professional help.

If you notice that your child is severely anxious, that they appear visibly distressed after spending time on social media, or that they are experiencing some physical symptoms of anxiety such as stomach pain, headaches, or weight loss or gain, then it’s definitely a good idea to speak to your physician. They will be able to offer you advice about which treatment options are appropriate for your child, as well as ruling out any physical issues which may be contributing to symptoms.

Another option is to contact a specialist in social media anxiety-like ignite teen treatment, who will be able to provide you with advice and resources on the best ways to help your child.

What can you do to help?

There is a lot that you can do as a parent in order to help children to moderate their social media usage, and therefore lessen the risk of developing anxiety around it. Some things to think about are:

  • Encouraging self care. If your child has become upset after a session on social media, suggest that they take a short break to do something away from the screen to make them feel better. Try to do this without judgment, so that they see you as the person to turn to when they are feeling sad.
  • Talk about their feelings. Give them a safe place to talk about how they are feeling.
  • Encourage their life offline. Try to engage them in fun activities away from their phone, so that their life feels richer. And they’ll have more to post about!

We are in the most advanced stage of scientific discovery and knowledge of any point in human history,  with inventions and advancements that older societies could only dream of. Despite all the progress that has taken place, the world is still full of people who are skeptical about science as these range from anti-vaxers to climate change deniers to conspiracy theorists. This has been the subject of media attention over the last few years and whether in the online space or in real life, we are likely to come across as science skeptic or denier at some point in time and we might feel compelled to debate them, especially if they are friends or family. Here are a few tips for if you attempt to change their minds:

1. Avoid insults: Many science deniers are under the impression that they have uncovered some hidden truth or have seen through some sort of worldwide conspiracy. As such, insulting them or calling them out as delusional might seem satisfying but will only reinforce their rhetoric of being persecuted underdogs and will make them less likely to listen to you. Also, if the person in question is a friend or family member, you risk damaging your relationship. Refrain from insults even if they resort to insults if you wish to change their mind.

2. Simplify facts: One of the reasons why people deny science is because it seems overly complicated and many would rather believe that space is a myth than try to understand its complexities. If you are trying to change the mind of a science denier, try to simplify the aspect of science that they are skeptical about. This could be through videos, pictures and so on. A good idea would be to explain certain phenomena as though you are speaking to a young teen who hasn’t heard of it before, without being condescending.

3. Point out logic flaws: The reason why science denial and conspiracy theories are annoying to many people is that they are illogical and do not add up. Unfortunately, their supporters do not see them as illogical and if you wish to change their minds, it would be good to point this out. Point out the absurdity of their claims and pose questions that make them see the counterproductiveness of their theories (“Why would the US government risk the health of its workforce by poisoning people through vaccines?” or “What does the government have to gain by lying about space?” This will hopefully lead to them questioning their current belief system and seeing its flaws.

4. Provide resources: A lot of denial and conspiracy theories are rooted in a lack of proper information and to combat this, this information should be made available. Recommend scientific literature or resources to the person whose mind you are trying to change and not only could you root out false beliefs but might even spark an interest in legitimate science.

Changing the mind of a science denier does not always have to end in a heated argument. Follow the above tips to change their mind

Prenups are very controversial both within the legal world and outside. Prenups have been made famous by the Hollywood elite and the world’s wealthiest people with often controversial details of their prenups being made public across various media platforms. This has allowed everyday people a glimpse into custody battles, asset division, and million-dollar alimony settlements or child support payments. These days, the idea of prenuptial agreements is popular not only among the world’s elite but also among everyday people who wonder if they should get one as well. The topic is often a bone of contention among couples with some questioning the benefits and some swearing by them. If you are considering a prenuptial agreement, take the following factors into consideration:

1. Pre-existing assets and liabilities: This is one of the biggest factors to be considered with regard to prenups. One of the reasons why prenups are popular among the elite is because they help to protect pre-existing assets and wealth in the event of divorce and separation and the most popular divorce stories among the elite often involve disputes over assets. If you are a person with significant wealth, assets currently or expect to come into wealth or assets in the future, it might be a good idea to look into a prenuptial agreement. This is not only limited to assets but to liabilities as well as in some parts of the world, a spouse could become legally liable for the debt owed by the other spouse. If you have significant debt or your future spouse does, it might be a good idea to look into a prenup.

2. Children and dependents: Prenuptial agreements, in many cases, do not only deal with financial issues but can also touch on child and dependent custody agreements. In some cases, future child support and child custody arrangements are stipulated in a prenuptial agreement and can help to reduce conflict in the event of divorce. Furthermore, the division of assets between children, relatives, and stepchildren in the event of the death of an individual in a mixed family situation can also be taken care of ahead of time. If your partner or you have children and wish to clarify certain legal issues before getting married a prenup might be a good idea.

3. Future decision making: Celebrity prenups are often reported to feature interesting clauses such as weight gain, infidelity and where the family will live. Even if you do not have millions of dollars and worldwide fame at stake, a prenup could act as an avenue for discussion to be held about major family decisions such as one party taking time off work, time spent with parents and so on.

4. Legal counsel: Regardless of personal opinion, you should always consult a legal professional and get their advice before you consider a prenup. Many law firms offer consultations for this purpose and can help you make the right decision.

Prenup or no prenup? Take a look at some of the factors to consider above before you make your decision.

A number of people, both consumers and employees, harbor a distrust of corporations and businesses in general. This is because, in the past, corporations have engaged in shady behavior and activities that show a prioritization of profits over people and ethics. If you are a business owner who wishes to avoid such a reputation or simply wants to make sure that your business is only engaging in the most ethical practices, it is adamant that you enforce ethics within your business. While this might seem vague, there are some steps you can take that will ensure ethical practices within your business.

1. Define your ethical statement: It is easy to simply state that you wish to have your business engage in ethical practices but this will be difficult if you do not have an ethical statement. This should be tied into your overall business mission statement to drive home the point. If your business is into apparel manufacturing, for example, your business mission statement should be to manufacture the best possible apparel by making use of the most ethically-sourced material and making use of fair labor practices. This sends a clear message to all stakeholders that your business takes ethical practices very seriously and that it is a part of your core belief system.

2. Review your business practices to ensure ethical behavior: While defining your business’s ethical statement is a step in the right direction, it is not the only step that should be taken. Beyond a broad statement, it is important that you review your business practices and put smaller practices in place to make sure that your ethical beliefs are being enforced. For example, if your business is into apparel manufacturing, you should enforce practices such as only purchasing materials from suppliers that are known to source their materials ethically or only hiring labor based on existing government regulations. This will not only help you stay in line with your ethical beliefs but will boost your business’s reputation and help you avoid being on the wrong side of the law.

3. Punish any deviations: While applying ethical business practices to your business is a major way to enforce ethics in your practice, you should also take steps to punish any deviations within your organization. These punishments can range from queries or suspensions of employees found breaking rules to even termination of employees. In a number of cases, your business will have more of a reputation boost from heavily punishing deviations from ethical practices than the practices that are already in place.

4. Change with the times: As time goes on, more and more ethical practices will be adopted within and outside your industry and it is up to you to keep up with them. An example of this is the food industry deliberately reducing their use of single-use plastic. When changes occur within your industry with regard to ethical practices, you should adopt them as soon as possible.

Implementing ethical practices to your business is more important than ever in the 21st century and can be done in a few steps such as those above.

Wearables and other tracking applications that feedback detailed data on almost every aspect of our lives have today become commonplace. This technology has given rise to a new phenomenon called “biohacking” in which people collect data on their bodily functions in detail in order to promote wellness. While this level of self-monitoring is more than enough for most people, in the margins of society there is a growing number of people known as “grinders” who want to take things a step further. Here are some of the most bizarre examples of biohacking technology being used by grinders today that may take off in the near future.

1. Near Field Communication (NFC) Chips

Present in most modern smartphones, NFC chips are the hardware that supports technologies like Google Pay and Apple Pay. One of the most common body modifications for grinders is to insert one of these personalized NFC chips under their skin. Doing so allows the possibility of paying for things without money, a card or a phone. The implant can also be used to unlock devices as well as locks on buildings and vehicles.

2. Night Vision Eyedrops

A crack team of Californian biohackers have created eyedrops that give a person the temporary ability to see in the dark. Made from a chemical that is found in algae and some deep-sea bioluminescent fish, the technology is still in its infancy but could soon become commercially available for those people who like living their lives after the sun has gone down.

3. Dermal Biosensor Tattoos

The brainchild of a group of scientist from MIT, the Dermal Abyss is a novel interface that renders the body’s surface an interactive display. It involves a tattooing technique that replaces traditional ink with biosensors which change colors as the body’s pH and glucose level rise and fall, giving the wearer a real-time update of what is happening inside them.

4. Blood Test Implant

The blood test implant is best described as a tiny laboratory that operates beneath a person’s skin. Measuring in at just a few centimeters, the device analyzes the concentration of substances in the wearer’s blood and instantly sends them to a mobile device. It is chargeable through the skin and has huge potential for diabetes sufferers as well as for biohacking enthusiasts who are keen to track changes in the composition of their blood.

5. Grindhouse Northstar V1

Developed by the biohacking technology company Grindhouse Wetware, the Northstar V1 is a device that is designed to be implanted under the skin on the back of a person’s hand. The implant lights up when it comes into proximity with a magnet, shining it lights through the wearer’s skin in a strange red circle shape. The device currently has no other utility than looking strange.

Biohacking with implant technology is getting a lot more popular, and it will surely not be long before cyborg-like devices that look like they belong in the realm of science fiction are considered as trendy as getting a tattoo or piercing are today. You might not be too keen on the idea now, but give it a few years and it may be a case of “If you can’t beat them, join them!”
